System Cruises Through Midwest Monday Night, Front Stays Active for Tuesday

Strong-to-severe thunderstorms for the Midwest. Severe storms from northeast Texas into the Tennessee Valley Tuesday.

A strong storm system is moving from Iowa into Wisconsin on Monday afternoon. The system is producing areas of rain to the north of the low-pressure center, but strong-to-severe thunderstorms across Illinois and Missouri. This first round of storms will move eastward through the Midwest this afternoon, but the main threat will be along the system’s cold front as it pushes south to the Ohio River this afternoon and evening. Additional storms may fire ahead of the front down the Mississippi River. All hazards will be possible as well as heavy rain that may produce flooding. The cold front will remain active on Tuesday, with a renewed risk of severe storms from northeast Texas into the Tennessee Valley.
