DTN’s Livestock Quick Takes
OMAHA (DTN) — Posted 11:33 — October live cattle are down $0.60 at $212.075, October feeder cattle are down $2.10 at $314.925, October lean hogs are up $0.13 at $83.8, December corn is up 8 1/4 cents per bushel and December soybean meal is up $6.20. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 405.20 points and the NASDAQ is down 234.46 points. Asking prices are noted at $225 in the South but are not established yet in the North. Packer interest is slow to develop and it’s likely that trade will be delayed until later in the week.
Posted 08:42– October live cattle are down $1.08 at $211.6, October feeder cattle are down $1.20 at $315.825, October lean hogs are steady, December corn is up 1 1/4 cents per bushel and December soybean meal is up $1.40. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 263.74 points and NASDAQ is down 367.21 points. Following Monday’s higher close, the livestock contracts are back to trading lower as traders need strong fundamental support if they’re to continue to support the contracts. No cash cattle trade has developed at this point and no bids or asking prices have surfaced either.
